CREATOR fashioned a magnificent world in a beyond-description universe. (Psalms 119:1-4).
But this world rapidly grew [and there’s no soft way to state this] ugly, putrid, deathly, abhorrent. (Romans 1:18-23).
How and why?
The appointed caretakers – human beings named Adam and Eve – utterly failed their job!
CREATOR set one simple boundary: “This one tree, right here in the middle, is off limits to you!” The tree serves as a relationship builder. A simple opportunity to obey, to show respect for Creator and thereby grow in relationship with Him. Beautiful! (Gen. 3:2-3).
What did the caretakers do? Bingo. They outright sinned in rebellion against CREATOR. Things could never be the same. (Gen. 3:17-19).
Genesis chapters 3-11 form the darkest, most distressing writing in all existence, bar period!
Evil escalates. Those created by Beautiful CREATOR become warped beyond recognition. “The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought and imagined was constantly and totally evil.” Gen. 6:5. Uuugggghhhs!
CREATOR decided not to end this venture. He dug deeper. He revealed a plan to save, to bless, to rescue us failed managers.
Recovery Plan, stage 1.
He chose one man, one family, to become a nation to bring blessing – the offer of restoration – to the entire world. “I will make you a great nation… All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.” Gen. 12:1-3.
God called Abraham’s descendants to be spiritual, moral, and even economic boosts to all the other people and nations, such as lending food to those in need (Duet. 28:9-12).
But CREATOR’s chosen conduit of blessing also utterly failed their job! (Rom. 1:24-32).
Recovery Plan, stage 2.
The story Jesus told in Mat. 21:33-39 outlines a clear indictment against Israel while also stating CREATOR’s most remarkable, radical, “ridiculous” plan—having his own SON enter this “septic tank” and suffer a horrid, most repulsive death as the mediator who alone can reconcile his adopted family to the Holy, Eternal God.
With this motive and purpose, the Son of CREATOR was born as a human baby. (John 3:17).
It’s Why Christmas first happened. Why God the Son was birthed as a human baby just like us. To forge the path for reconciliation. Millions and millions of people throughout history and today have entered this path; have received forgiveness and reconciliation with CREATOR-FATHER; and are working together to bring this message of hope to needy people all over the planet.
Let’s honor Christ today by living and proclaiming His work, His message of reconciliation. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. Let’s involve ourselves daily in God’s recovery plan! “For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, ‘Come back to God!’” (2 Cor. 5:19-20).
